Drip watering - saving water!

Our little Garden Club students have been learning about ways to save water around our school. We discovered that through the use of 'drip watering' we can save our seedlings (this is the start of our pumpkin patch) with concentrated watering on the areas that need it, particularly on hot days and when we are on school holidays or long weekends and not at school.

Year 5 & 6 Reef trip

Our Year 5 and 6 students from St Clare's in Tully had an amazing experience last week, visiting the Reef Magic Pontoon off Cairns. Our students were amazed by the beautiful corals and diversity of fish species, turtles and sharks they saw through the glass bottom boat. Nearly all our students also went snorkelling, and took part in a Rapid Monitoring Survey. They also about some of the threats to the reef, visiting the biology lab onboard the pontoon, and restoration efforts of scientists in this part of the reef. We had taken part in several sessions with Craig from GBRMPA Education team, and the students were amazed to see first hand the coral reef ecosystem. This trip was made possible with funding from the QLD Department of Environment, Science and Innovation.
